1630 Scenic Ave Berkeley

Gorgeous 1928 home built in the Spanish Eclectic style combines period detailing and modern updates with a Bay view and an ideal location just north of campus. And if you are a foodie, forget it—the Gourmet Ghetto beckons with the CheeseBoard Collective, Sauls, Chez Panisse, and the first Pete’s coffee all within minutes.

The exterior of this home is a vintage dream: ornate plasterwork around the door, wrought iron Juliet balcony under vast windows, red tile roof, mature junipers by the sidewalk. Inside, stairs lead to an oversized French door and the spacious dining room with charming built-ins, coved ceiling, crown and baseboard mouldings, polished wood floors. And the original paned windows open out to let the breeze and sunshine in. The bright living room runs the entire length of the home, so ample space for entertaining, and features a wedding cake of a fireplace: white, decorative, delicious. Down the hallway, two sunny bedrooms boast closets with organizing systems, and a remodeled bath with penny and subway tile, large modern shower, contemporary vanity. And if you know anything about stoves, the Wedgewood in the kitchen will make you swoon. In perfect condition, it provides a lovely counterpart to the custom cabinetry with modern hardware, and the handsome quartz countertops.

Neighborhood Gallery

1630 Scenic Avenue

North of Downtown and west of University of California, Berkeley is North Berkeley. This town is popular among commuting students due to the quick and easy commute the location offers. The neighborhood of North Berkeley is the home to two popular parks in the city of Berkeley. The first one is Berkeley Rose Garden. This park features a huge garden with amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. The other park is the Live Oak Park, a wooded area that features recreational fields, playgrounds, and walking trails.

North Berkeley is known for its wide variety of food and drink choices. In town, there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit, many of them highly rated. Restaurants include Chez Panisse, Grégoire Restaurant, Nico's 1508, FatApple's Berkeley Restaurant and Bakery, and Crepevine. Bars in the area include Pacific Standard Tap Room, Tupper & Reed, Albatross Pub, and Kip’s Bar and Grill. North Berkeley is a great place to live especially if attending college and living near other college students is a priority.
